Brandi Lasanen | President

Hyatt Regency Vancouver


Brandi Lasanen grew up in Burnaby, BC, and holds a Tourism Marketing Management Diploma from BCIT, as well as her Bachelor of Tourism Management from Thompson Rivers University. Brandi is currently the Director of Revenue Management at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver and recently celebrated her 10th anniversary with Hyatt! Brandi is proud to be one of the founding members of the HSMAI British Columbia Chapter. 

 

Glenn Widmer | Treasurer

Sabre Hospitality Solutions


Glenn Widmer was raised on the prairie in Alberta and worked for the phone company in Calgary. Glenn moved to Vancouver where he started in the hotel business with various positions including front office, reservations, switchboard and night audit. Glenn worked in the regional sales office of Ramada where the love for sales was born. Right from the beginnings of Revenue Management in hospitality, Glenn worked for several hotels in a Revenue Management role. After moving away to Toronto to pursue an executive role with Starwood, Glenn moved back to Vancouver in 2007. Glenn joined Sabre Hospitality Solutions in February 2013 and oversees Canada in an account management capacity. Glenn enjoys his duties as treasurer on the board for HSMAI BC chapter.

 

Michael Lau | Past President

Accor Hotels


Michael currently resides in Vancouver after moving back from New York City in 2010. He is the Regional Director of Revenue Management for the Western US and Canada for Accor Hotels. His focus over the past few years has been to build a RM culture around all revenue streams. Michael has worked on projects such as Restaurant Revenue Management, Total Hotel Profit Optimization as well as Function Space Revenue Management, which have all been implemented. He is a founding member and Past President of the HSMAI British Columbia Chapter. Michael holds a BSc in Hotel Administration from Cornell University and an Associate Degree from Vancouver Community College.

 

Robyn Wosk-Peter | Vice President, Partnerships

Robyn Wosk-Peter grew up in Vancouver BC and holds a B.A. from the University of British Columbia and has attained both her CMP and CRM designations. Robyn’s experience in the hospitality industry has ranged from front desk to banquets to conference services to sales. After more than 10 years on property in both Toronto and Winnipeg with Delta Hotels and Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Robyn came home to Vancouver and spent 7 years as the Western Canadian market manager for Orbitz Worldwide. Robyn is currently the Senior Manager, Market Development for Priceline.com overseeing Vancouver, Calgary and  the teams in Toronto and Montreal.   Robyn is thrilled to have been part of the founding board of HSMAI British Columbia.

 

Clint Banda | Vice President – Communications

Clint Banda is a prairie boy having been born and raised in Saskatchewan and Alberta.  Clint’s hospitality career started out of high school with the Hospitality Management program at SIAST in Saskatoon.  From there he worked in Hotel Operations for a small chain of Saskatchewan hotels before moving to Alberta to work for Ramada and IHG.  In 2007 he made the move to Vancouver where he worked for Hilton Hotels during the 2010 Winter Olympics.  In 2012 Clint made the transition to the world of OTA’s when he joined Booking.com as an Account Manager.

 


Anthony Woo | Vice President – Digital Strategy

Anthony Woo was born and raised in Vancouver, BC. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce in both Marketing and Human Resources from the University of British Columbia. Prior to working in Hospitality, Anthony has served as a supplier to the hospitality industry in Media, Software, Business Intelligence and Web Solutions for over five years. Anthony is very excited to be on the board of the BC Chapter of the HSMAI.

 

Karen Tocher | Secretary

Expedia

Karen Tocher is the Regional Manager for Expedia Lodging Partner Services in Western Canada, based in Vancouver, BC. An Ontario native, Karen spent 17 years in Banff, Alberta where she worked in hospitality in a variety of roles including Housekeeper, Front Desk Agent, Sales Manager, Front Office Manager, Assistant General Manager and Director of Sales and Marketing.

Prior to moving to Vancouver, Karen spent one year running a not-for profit organization in a remote Northern Alberta community providing assistance to Victims of Crime and Tragedy. Karen was an active member of the Banff Lake Louise Tourism Association and is thrilled to be a part of HSMAI’s BC Chapter.

 

Ann Merenda | Vice President, Logistics

River Rock Casino Resort


Ann has been in the hospitality industry for almost 30 years beginning during Expo ’86 at The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Ann’s career took her through a number a different roles – and started in Revenue Management at The Fairmont Vancouver Airport as their Director of Revenue Management in 2004.  In December 2013, Ann moved onto Delta Hotels and Resorts as their Area Director of Revenue Management.  In 2016, Ann moved to the River Rock Casino Resort as their Manager, Revenue. Aside from her passion for Revenue Management and Optimization – Ann loves soccer and will cheer her team on no matter what.  Ann’s most memorable memory over the last 30 years has been the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Ann is looking forward to working with the Board and the upcoming year.

 

Sheri-Lynn Walker  | Vice President, Education

Atlific Hotels & Resorts


Sheri-Lynn Walker is the Corporate Director - Revenue Strategy (Training and Development) for Atlific Hotels. Sheri-Lynn grew up in small town Newfoundland and completed a BSc in Psychology at Memorial University. Upon graduation, Sheri-Lynn was given an opportunity to manage a small property in Nova Scotia and from there she never looked back - her career in hospitality was determined. She managed Comfort Inns throughout Atlantic Canada while returning to university to complete her MBA at L’Universite de Moncton. Most recently she completed her HSMAI CRME certification.

Since relocating to the West Coast, Sheri-Lynn has worked with Delta Hotels as an Area Revenue Manager and Coast Hotels as Corporate Director of Revenue Management & Central Reservations. Recently she made the move to work with Atlific Hotels where she can focus on developing the Revenue Management culture and existing talent throughout the organization. 

Sheri-Lynn enjoys giving back and has held volunteer positions with Volunteer Richmond Board of Directors  and the Vancouver Aquarium. She is thrilled to join the HSMAI BC Chapter Board. 

Eric Jaltema | Board Member at Large

Wall Centre Hotels

Eric grew up in North Burnaby where he completed his B.A. at Simon Fraser University before starting his career in hospitality.  Beginning at the Pan Pacific Vancouver in 2004, Eric worked for two years in the Front Office before becoming the Leader for the Reservations Sales Team.  The success of the team led to Eric’s transition into Sales Manager (and later Senior Sales Manager) at the Pan Pacific for Corporate Accounts.  In 2014 Eric left the Pan Pacific to become Regional Director – Corporate Travel for the Westin Wall Centre Vancouver Airport, and the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre. He has now assumed greater leadership responsibilities for the Sales Team as the Associate Director of Sales. Eric has contributed to various industry associations and won “Volunteer of the Year” in 2012 for the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE).

 

Jill Forbes | Secretary

The Loden Hotel

Jill is currently the Revenue Manager at Loden Hotel and the department head for the revenue marketing team having been a part of the Wentworth Hospitality Group since June 2011 when she joined as a Reservations Manager.  With a passion for revenue optimization, data analysis, and exceeding customer expectations along with an evolving appreciation and understanding of all things marketing.  Jill has over 15 years in the hospitality industry with a range of roles in front office, reservations and revenue management with three different  branded properties and two independent properties between downtown Vancouver and the Niagara Region.  Obtaining her first job in the hotel industry during her second year of university as part of the work placement requirements for her degree and staying on throughout her studies.  Jill graduated with a BachelorsTourism Studies (Honours) from Brock University in Saint Catherine’s, Ontario.  For a screen time break Jill loves getting her hands dirty in the garden growing various veggies and herbs and helping out with her local community garden.  

 

Chantel Cook | Board Member, Education

Chantel Cook is currently a Market Manager for Expedia Lodging Partner Services and is based in beautiful Vancouver B.C. She holds a Bachelors of Tourism Management Degree from Thompson Rivers University. Prior to Expedia, she worked within the hotel industry holding a variety of positions in branded and independent properties including Front Desk Agent, Operations Manager and Sales Manager. Chantel is thrilled to be a part of HSMAI’s BC Chapter.
