Fairmont Hotels and Resorts
Leading the charge of the HSMAI Ontario chapter is David Lau.
David’s impressive professional history spans across Canada from East to West, and currently has him serving as Area Director, Revenue Management for Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. On most days, you can find him at the Fairmont Royal York.
If being President of our chapter and overseeing multiple properties isn’t enough, David fills his schedule with a regimented long-distance running schedule as an athlete for the BlackToe Running Race Team. David has yet to turn his allegiance to the Toronto Maple Leafs; as he’s a lifelong supporter of the Vancouver Canucks!
Leon Mulder | President Elect

Leon is the epitome of the phrase “Through hard work, success”. With a hospitality career beginning as a bellman, Leon has grown his skills set (and his professional acumen) all the way to his current role as Priceline.com’s Market Manager throughout Ontario. Leon’s history with many brands has led him to this position where he can now have an impact on his true passion: travel tech
Leon is as competitive as they come on the badminton court. But his most prized possession is his lengthy list of cruise vacation spots. A professional cruiser, one might say.
Gabor Fenyves | VP Sponsorship

Gabor Fenyves is currently the Corporate Director of Revenue Management for Westmont Hospitality Group, and a graduate from Cornell University with a Masters of Management in Hospitality. He holds a B.A. from École Hôtelière de Lausanne in Switzerland and has traveled the world extensively, working for multiple leading hotel companies including Marriott, Fairmont and Hilton.
When not sharpening his industry knowledge, Gabor is a die-hard soccer fan, and loves being outdoors in nature. He is also known for his extensive sock collection, which he’ll show off every chance he gets.
Tatia Cashman | VP Communications

Tatia Cashman is the Vice President of Communications for HSMAI Ontario and the Senior Director of Sales for Travelzoo Canada. She has worked in the hospitality industry in a variety of positions for over 12 years and held senior positions with American Express Travel, Leonardo, Guestlogix, Hotels by Day and Hospitality Innovated. Tatia’s has built up credibility in the hospitality industry through her dedication to her clients and maintaining the highest integrity throughout her relationships. Tatia is also a member of the Program Administrative Committee for Centennial College and spends much of her time helping to develop programs for students coming from challenging environments.
Bonnie Vesterfelt | Secretary
Expedia Inc.
With a career that’s nothing short of spectacular, Bonnie Vesterfelt joins the inaugural HSMAI Ontario Board as our chapter’s Secretary. Bonnie’s hospitality background includes hotel operations, Revenue Management, and she now serves as Market Manager for Expedia Inc throughout all of Canada East.
With a 3+ hour commute to work every day, Bonnie is no stranger to life on the road. But when she’s not on the road, she’s all about cheering, literally. Bonnie’s daughter is a World Champion cheerleader. You can even find her on the show “Cheer Squad” on Netflix!
Katie Edgerton | Treasurer
Silver Hotel Group
Handling the financial aspects of HSMAI Ontario is Katie Edgerton.
Katie’s 10+ year hospitality career has spanned from Ottawa to Toronto and currently has her residing as Silver Hotel Group’s Regional Revenue Analyst with their extensive hotel portfolio. With a hunger for helping hotels increase their revenues, her role as Treasurer is an ideal fit for our chapter. Katie is a lifelong advocate for fitness and plant-based diets. So don’t be surprised if you see her waving "hello" as she rides her bike past you on the way to work!
Sina Muzzin| VP Events

Coming straight to you from Toronto Proper is Sina Muzzin, VP Events for HSMAI Ontario. From Day #1, she has been committed to ensuring that each and every chapter event is a huge success! Sina has a vast background in operations, sales and marketing in travel, tourism and hospitality and now serves as Canadian Director of Sales at Sabre Hospitality Solutions. A foodie and wine connoisseur, Sina is making her way across various regions around the world experiencing great food, wines and cultures
Tammy Gillis | VP Education Programs

Heading up the chapter’s educational programming is Tammy Gillis, and there couldn’t be a better fit.
Tammy is an accomplished sales professional, coach and facilitator who has educated thousands of sales professionals, hotel owners and general managers all across our country. There is a VERY good chance you’ve likely heard her speak at one of many hospitality-based industry events throughout her tenured career. And if you listen closely, you may still hear a bit of her Cape Breton, east-coast "twang”
As much as Tammy is all-business, she’s also all-family. With 3 teenage children, and 2 more fur babies (awwww), Tammy is a leader in the business world, and at the homestead!
Rich Kawamoto | VP Digital Strategy

Hailing from Hamilton ON, Rich is incredibly excited- and proud- to be a founding board member of HSMAI- Ontario as VP Digital Strategy. From his humble beginnings as hotel night auditor to his current role with TravelClick as Ontario Director of Sales, his passion for the hospitality industry has never faded. In his personal time, Rich trades in his suit and tie for a pair of runners and shorts while he chases his forever long dream of the elusive Boston Marathon.
