Local Trips - Virginia, Maryland, and D.C.
We are affiliated with a “Parent” DC chapter which supports us with networking connections. We attend these parent chapter meetings once a month - typically on the 3rd Thursday of each month!
Adrian Awards - Manhattan NYC
The Adrian Awards is one of the largest hospitality gatherings in New York City, and we are invited to volunteer every spring semester. This is a conference of over 1,000 hospitality professionals with presentations from world-renowned speakers. We will be attending this conference in January and we will bring at least 10 of our members at no cost to them!
Events
We also hold events, such as our 2019 Duke Talk event held in the festival ballroom, and our annual showcase reception.
The Duke Talk brought down Simon Sinek Igniter Heath Slawner from Canada to speak on “Finding Your Why” at a 200-person professional dinner event. We collaborated with PCMA and the American Marketing Association from the College of Business to hold this $9,000 event.
We also hold an annual reception dinner in April every year which recaps the year’s achievements. Last year, we invited the HSMAI president, Bob Gilbert, To speak and present our trophy for winning the National Award for Best Collegiate Chapter in America.
