In the past 10 months over 22 million people have lost their jobs.
According to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, 82% of those lost jobs since February are in the service industry. We start the new year – 2021, with high hopes for a return of travel, especially
corporate and group travel, to help in our recovery of business for over 58,000 hotels, and over 1,000,000 restaurants. However, Forbes reported almost 65% of those 58,000 hotels and 66% of those
million restaurants are on
track to shut down without government help or an improvement in business. And, we ended 2020 with a November -58.6 % yoy REVPAR with the STR report on forecast for October EBITDA – earnings before
interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization at less than $1 per room. Obviously, no business can obviously continue for long with those financial forecasts.
