Vice President of Global Business Sales, Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and Executive Director, World Trade Center Las Vegas

Chris Meyer is vice president of global business sales for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) and executive director of the World Trade Center Las Vegas.

The LVCVA is the destination marketing organization for Las Vegas and Southern Nevada, and its mission centers on attracting visitors by promoting the destination as the world’s most desirable destination for leisure and business travel. The LVCVA also owns and operates the Las Vegas Convention Center and manages operations of the Cashman Center facility.

In his role with the LVCVA, Mr. Meyer is responsible for directing the worldwide activities of the LVCVA’s convention sales and convention center sales teams. He also oversees the activities of the World Trade Center (WTC) Las Vegas—a partnership between the LVCVA and the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)® to market Las Vegas to business travelers around the globe under the WTC brand.

Mr. Meyer joined the LVCVA in 2000 as manager of convention center sales, moved to director of convention center sales and was then promoted to his current position in 2007. Prior to joining the LVCVA, Meyer worked at the Sands Expo & Convention Center for 10 years, including serving as director of sales and marketing.

Mr. Meyer is a member of several professional organizations, including Meeting Professionals International, Destinations International and the Las Vegas Hospitality Association. He currently sits on the board of directors of the Corporate Event Marketing Association (CEMA) after serving for two years as vice president and chairman, and is a Board member for the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) Las Vegas Chapter. He is the past chairman of International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) and currently sits on the Industry Alliance Partners Committee. Mr. Meyer also serves the community as a board member for the Nevada Child Seekers.

Mr. Meyer earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Lee School of Business. He is a certified meeting professional, as well as certified in exhibition management. The Las Vegas Hospitality Association named Meyer “Industry Leader of the Year” in 2010 and the UNLV College of Hotel Administration recognized him as “Industry Executive of the Year” in 2011.
