annual signature hospitality industry dinner event! Invite your friends,
family, co-workers, and clients to spend an evening bidding on auction
items ranging from restaurant gift certificates to hotel stays to spa
packages. Toss your quarters in the bucket, waive your numbered auction
paddle, listen for the GONG, and be prepared for lots of fun and
laughter as we celebrate The Year of the Snake - HSMAI Georgia fashion.

What is a Chinese Auction?
Each attendee will receive a list of
donated auction items and a numbered paddle. Quarters can be purchased
by each attendee so they may bid on items which range from $.50 to
$1.50. The auctioneer will announce an item and ask attendees who would
like to bid on this item to place their quarters in the bucket located
in the middle of each table. If the attendee bids on the item, they hold
their numbered paddle in the air. The auctioneer will begin at random
calling out the paddle numbers of the people who bid. Meanwhile, a gong
person is on the stage and is unaware of what numbers are being called.
Whenever the gong person likes, he bangs the gong. The last number
called by the auctioneer when the gong is rung wins the item. This
continues until all the prizes are won.
